How To Complete Your Rain Gear

Spring Showers may be long gone, but that definitely doesn’t mean we’re all in the clear. With rainstorms and downpours taking center stage in 10-day forecasts throughout the country, we’ve got to gear up. I know we’re all accustomed to looking adorable and fashionable no matter the elements, but style doesn’t extend only as far as our bodies. You may have the perfect wellies and raincoat, the cutest waterproof hat, and the greatest rain-ready handbag, but if you then go and pick up that old, broken-down, drab umbrella…all is lost.

How To Wear Neon in the Adult World
Neon is everywhere this summer. Literally everywhere. With a trend this hot, it seems insane that anyone would NOT be partaking. Problem is, neon ain’t for the faint of heart. Everything about it screams “Look at me!” You are literally highlighting yourself out from within the crowd. Yes, calling attention to yourself in that manner can be a little daunting. What if you’re a tad bit shy? Or don’t want to look like a highlighter marker? Or what if you’d prefer your voice and opinions, and not your ensemble, do the shouting for you? Fair and solid points. But that doesn’t mean you have to let this season’s hottest trend pass you by. Remember in college how there was a fine line between those students who highlighted the important material in the reading, and those who highlighted everything but “the” and “however”? You just need to figure out how to translate the former, and not the latter, into your wardrobe. How does one do that, you inquire? Why, I’m glad you asked…

How to Have A Frizz-Free Summer
We’re in the thick of it. No I’m not talking about summer. I’m talking about Frizz season. By the time July rolls around, we’re all pretty much swimming in frizz. While we have visions of the laid back beachy waves and long luxurious tendrils, the reality is much more frustrating. Within five minutes of walking out the door, most of us end up succumbing to tying all our hair back in defeat and calling it a day. But why let frizz win? We are grown women. Isn’t it time we learned a few hair tricks to deal with the unruly hair demon?

How To Wear Shorts To The Office
This post isn’t going to be for everyone. Obviously some people just can’t wear shorts to the office. But for those of you who think your company dress code is a bit more lenient and may allow you to show a little knee, here are a few tips to help you get it right.
Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you can slack off in the style department, and just because you pull on a pair of shorts doesn’t mean you’re suddenly forced to be super casual. With enough effort, you can look just as polished and professional as any business-savvy career gal, all the while keeping cool in the summer heat (and showing a little leg to boot). Follow the tips below to make your summer wardrobe office-friendly (and envy-inducing) without breaking a sweat.

How To Rock a Pair of Jorts
I’m going to say something, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I love jorts. To me, they are the ultimate summer staple which basically goes with everything. You can dress them up (to an extent – see below), they never go out of style, and they too come in a variety of shapes of sizes. So no matter who you are or how you define yourself, there’s a jort for you.
But ladies, we’re not in high school anymore, and Abercrombie was popular 10 years ago. It’s 2012, and as young, stylish, professional 20-somethings, this is no time for shredded, cut-up, barely-there micro-mini jean shorts. You’re not Jessica Simpson circa 2003 (or, let’s be honest, circa 2012…come on Jess). Yes, jean shorts get a bad rap, but they can be cute and classy and totally wearable from June through September. Here’s a little guide to help you learn how to wear jean shorts and look cute and stylish, not like you’re on your way to an “Amurica” themed frat party.
1. Full coverage. No daisy dukes. No more of “this will be totally adorable if I just let a teensy bit of cheek hang out”. You’re not 17 anymore.

What To Wear OVER That Bikini
After my post last week, I realized that equally as important as the swimsuit is the cover-up. After all, you can’t walk to the beach in just your suit. You can’t hit up the local shops in town, stroll along the boardwalk, or take a breather for lunch or coffee in just your bikini. And those days when you stay at the beach long enough to watch the sun set and the temperature cool? Yep, you’re gonna need that cover-up. For every post in every fashion blog that’s devoted to the one-piece, the two-piece, the red-piece and the blue-piece, there should be one devoted to the cover-up. And so here it is.

One Way to Make Your Guy Less Sweaty!
I don’t shop there often, but when I do I always seem to find a new must-have item that I want to drop a bill on. What am I talking about? TJ Maxx and the item is the new, at least to me, Nike Dri-Fit cotton graphic t-shirts. The first reason for loving this shirt is that I sweat my butt off anytime the temps reach the 65 degree mark. That also might mean I’m overweight, but I’m in love with beer… so back off.

What To Wear For Fun In The Sun (Swimsuits & More)
It’s finally here. That time of year when you can lay out by the beach, spend long afternoons lounging at the pool, eat outdoors for every meal of the day and stay outside from sunrise to sunset, and beyond. OK, let’s be honest, summer is usually about sticking as close to the strongest AC we can find until September hits. But on those occasions when you find yourself soaking up the sunshine and cooling off with a dip in the water, you want to be prepared.

MAN HAS EVOLVED! What To Get Your 20 or 30 Something Guy For Father’s Day!
It seems man has evolved. What was once a pleated panted professional is now turning into a stylish slightly more groomed guy. I’m not so sure who to blame for this phenomenon. Was it man having more options in this internet “shop at home” era or was it man rebelling against the visual image of turning into their fathers golfing buddies? This we may never know, but what we can only hope is that it puts an end to light wash jeans, pleated pants, ill-fitted shirts, and unfortunate shoes.

How To Wear A Summer Sweater
The phrase “Summer Sweater” is one of those elusive fashion oxymorons. You see these sweaters in stores, on models, and in magazine spreads, but wonder when one might actually wear one. In theory, they are adorable and look oh-so-fun and stylish and casual and summery. In reality? It’s 95 effing degrees with 85% humidity. You can hardly stand to wear a t-shirt, so why in the world would you want to be wearing a sweater? I feel you. I also feel that there’s a time and a place for everything. So perhaps if we can just re-examine how exactly to wear the summer sweater, we’ll all have the chance to be fashionable while keeping our cool.
