Filling The GAP Without Shopping There: Where I Religiously Shop In My 20′s!
Two of the most frequented questions I get often revolve around where I got something and what stores I currently shop. When you’re in your 20 something’s or early 30 something’s figuring out how to say “hey I look like an adult” without saying “hey you don’t have to card me anymore” can be complex. That being said, stepping away from the junior section at Kohl’s and into Ann Taylor leaves a rather large gap (not to be confused with the store) to be filled in between. So I’ve collected and shared why and where I, at age 25, shop.
I Heart These Shops!
Madewell – The “younger version” of J.Crew is a little on the pricey end of the scale for a 20 something ranging anywhere from $35 upward to $200. That being said, this is currently my personal favorite and go store. The key to shopping here is to watch for the sales and always head to the sale rack first.
Bonus: My number #1 place for denim! Best jeans, especially for tall girls!! (yes that deserves two exclamation points) They are typically running deals on their denim ranging from $40 – $100, and believe me it’s totally worth it.
Zara – This shop is a hidden gem in the major cities. I’m always surprised when people haven’t heard of Zara, but then again unless you live in a major city the only way to find out about it or shop their items is to do it online. Bummer! I would consider Zara your more sophisticated and higher quality H&M without the price tag to show it. If your personal style is more minimalistic & simplistic you’ll fall head over heels (literally) for Zara. I tend to believe that the “in-store” prices are a lot more affordable than what they carry online. So if you’re ever in New York City check it out.
Bonus: Higher quality than an H&M.
Anthropologie – I haven’t met a person who doesn’t love them some Anthropologie; however, the price as we all know is a bit on the higher end of a 20 something’s budget so this is my go to for everything involved in a sales rack. If you haven’t yet been to this shop it’s a must for all ages!
Bonus: Watch for their occasional sales, the sale rack, and shop off season to add a bit of Anthropologie into your wardrobe.
H&M – By now we all know about H&M. This is my go to place for blazers and anything remotely trendy. The cost per wear is only good if the material itself can hold up, and while I love me some H&M, the quality isn’t the best of the best.
Bonus: Got a last minute interview? It may come as a surprise but check this shop for something to wear!
Target – Lately Tar-jee has been killing it…period. From bags to belts to sunglasses to shoes, I’ve been heading to Target for any extra to help my outfit POP! This time of year is perfect to grab the accessories that can take you from season to season.
Bonus: Grab some stylish sandals or wedges they’ve not only been affordable but surprisingly comfy!
J.Crew Outlet – By now it’s no secret that J Crew has some cute items. However, I rarely if ever shop at the actual J.Crew store. The J.Crew outlet or factory is filled with just as many options and half the prices. Tall girls can note that it’s one more place to find jeans on the affordable end of the scale. Their “talls” inseam is 36 inches. So if you’re an amazon women J.Crew has got you covered!
Bonus: Can’t get enough of their colored tank tops for uber cheap. Also hold on to that College ID and get a discount! (You didn’t hear that from me.)
TOMS – My heart belongs to TOMS. They’ve been consistently adding new styles every season ranging from new colors and patterns to wedges and styles like their new ballet flats.
Bonus: A child in need gets a new pair of shoes. What’s better?
