What To Wear Atop Your Noggin’ (Also Known As HATS)

by allyson

I’ve always been one of those people that loves the idea of a hat, but then buys one and lets it sit in my closet.  In the store, I look fantastic; at home, I look like an idiot.  But this season, there are so many options that it’s really impossible to go wrong.  This is not the year of the fedora or the year of the scarf.  Yes, baseball caps have definitely made a comeback, but they haven’t completely dominated the landscape.  In general, we are currently in the year of the hat.  Period. So if you like wide-brimmed, you’re in luck.

If you’ve always been a fan of the fedora, get ready to rock it.  Feel glamorous wrapping your head up in a scarf or turban?  I hope you’ve been practicing your wrapping skills.  Always wanted to channel the Parisians and throw on a woven topper?  Now is your time.  Dreamed of looking like the starlets of Old Hollywood?  There’s a hat for that.

Are you sensing an overall theme here?  Listen, we all have bad hair days.  And as long as the bad hair day exists, there will be hats.  I will admit that I usually spend more time grooming my locks when I want to add a hat to my outfit, but…I am a crazy person.  This is 2012.  Don’t let anything hold you back from finishing off your look with the sartorial equivalent to a cherry on top.  There’s a hat for everyone, it’s just a matter of finding what makes you the most happy.  And the most comfortable.  Below, you’ll find a few pictures that will hopefully serve as a launching pad for inspiration.  But this is just the beginning.  As temperatures rise, frizz begins to win over our heads, and the strong rays of the sun demand that we protect are delicate skin, you’ll be happy you gave in to the hat.  So tell me…what’s your favorite?
