The Look for Less… Pleats Aren’t Just for Catholic School Girls Anymore

by Court

At a meeting this week, I was receiving loads of wonderful compliments on a recent pleated skirt purchase. It received so much attention, that it was hard for me not to love my skirt that everyone else loves!

My wonderful pleated skirt! - $32.00

Pleats a huge trend this spring, and this skirt was the perfect way to incorporate them into my wardrobe! But sometimes I feel pleats can be a challenging trend to wear. So I took three of my good college girlfriends and asked them to make an outfit out of my pleated skirt. Here’s what they came up with!

Up first is Emily, an industrial design major at the University of Cincinnati. Emily took a fantastic twist on my classic pleated skirt, creating an edgy and trendy look. Emily is wearing a structured jacket with a graphic print t-shirt. She added accessories with a big brown belt and some oxford shoes.

Here’s how you can get Emily’s Look for Less…

T Shirt - $12.80  Jacket - $39.99  Belt - $11.80

Total Cost = 96.59 (including skirt)

My good friend Pearl, hailing from San Francisco, is wearing an everyday look that can easily be transitioned into a night look, perfect for spring! Pearl is wearing an easy tank with a thick belt to define her waist; she changes from easy sandals to some killer pumps for going out.

Here’s Pearl’s Look for Less…

 Tank Top - $19.99  Belt - $6.80  Heels - $22.80

Flats  They fold up, making them super easy and portable! - $21.95

Total Cost, Night = $81.59

Last is Kate, a native Cincinnatian and graphic design major. Kate uses the skirt to create a perfect business casual look. She is wearing a Ralph Lauren oxford shirt and brown boots, with the cream pleated skirt. This outfit would look great at the office or at Sunday brunch.

Here are some tips on how to steal Kate’s Look for Less…
